Close to 700K join Traslacion

MANILA, Philippines: Close to 700,000 people have gathered for the Feast of the Black Nazarene in and around Manila as of early Tuesday.

The Quiapo Church command post said that as of 6 a.m. there were about 657,700 people. Last year's Traslacion reached about 2 million.

About 26,800 devotees are in Quiapo Church to attend morning masses which started at 12 midnight despite the rain.

About 200,000 were at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park earlier on Tuesday for a mass and to witness the start of the procession.

As of posting time, the Nazareno is making its way around Manila where thousands more have gathered.
