MANILA, Philippines -- Moderate to at times heavy rainfall may still occur in several areas in Mindanao on Tuesday due to the effects of the shear line, state meteorologists said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration's (Pagasa) advisory showed that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may happen in Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region.

"Because we have experienced consecutive rains during the past few days, we are advising our compatriots to take caution because flooding and landslides are possible due to moderate and at times heavy rainfall," weather specialist Rhea Torres said during an early morning report.

Pagasa also issued a Yellow Rainfall Alert for Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Surigao del Sur at 7 a.m. on Tuesday. A Yellow Rainfall Alert indicates the possibility of heavy rainfall ranging from 7.5 millimeters (mm) to 15 mm within one hour.

For the rest of Mindanao, fair weather conditions may prevail despite some chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon and in the evening, according to Torres.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, which is locally known as amihan, would still affect parts of Luzon and Visayas, based on Pagasa's 4 a.m. advisory.

Overcast skies with light rains may prevail over Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region, it said.

It also said that Metro Manila, Visayas, and the rest of Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, while for Visayas, mostly fair weather conditions are expected to prevail despite some light rainfall.

Torres said state meteorologists are not seeing any low pressure area forming within the Philippine area of responsibility.

As for the country's seaboards, a gale warning was raised over the coasts of Northern Luzon, Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao where waves as high as 4.5 meters may be anticipated on Tuesday.
