Saint Lucia: The Government of Saint Lucia has extended the deadline for enrolment to the Income Support Programme 2023 until January 2024.
The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment said that the deadline for the submission of the forms was October 30, 2023, which began on September 13, 2023.
As part of the programme, eligible candidates will receive a one-time payment of $1500 per household. The criteria are based on different norms, which include individuals who lost their income sources due to COVID-19 or got no pay due to the pandemic.
The Income Support Programme aims to provide much-needed financial assistance to households or people from the informal sector. The programme also considers the citizens who continuously experienced the lingering challenges of COVID-19 and did not benefit from any cash transfer programs.
Mentioning the programme, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr Charmaine Hippolyte-Emmanuel, said that the Income Support Programme 2023 underlines the government's commitment to ensure that no one is left behind as they navigate the aftermath of the pandemic.
"This programme is a testament to the Ministry's mandate of ensuring the overall welfare of our citizens" - Dr Charmaine Hippolyte-Emmanuel.
The Government of Saint Lucia started the ISP 2023 under the project named 'Safety Nets for Vulnerable Populations Affected by the Coronavirus'.
For assistance, the applicants may also visit the welfare offices of Castries and Vieux-Fort. They can fill out the forms by visiting the official site.
